Kuipers: “It can be a great final!”
Jim Kuipers is the first man, who has won four EFT stages in one season. The Dutchman was the best player last weekend in Hungary after winning a thrilling playoff against Matias Perrone and Tomas Bartko. Now, he has a chance to beat the Tour-leader, Alexandre Richer.
How was it possible for you to win your fourth tournament this season?
I felt strong on Sunday, after a poor first day. But it wasn’t so bad as I was so close to the podium and the leader and managed to catch them. I have played playoffs before and I knew I had to be fresh for it. It was a very tight one against two great footgolfers, Matias Perrone and Tomas Bartko. I am so delighted to have won another playoff and claim another stage on the tour.
You said, it was not the perfect after your Saturday round, but did you think winning the tournament was possible
No. There were a lot of players front of me, and of course I wanted to beat them, but it seemed impossible from 18th position. I knew everybody can produce a great day, while others could have had a bad one, so I tried to beat them all.
What is your message to Alexandre Richer, the number one in Europe, who now only has a 65 point-lead now?
It is so close now. I knew Hungary was my last opportunity to keep my chances alive to catch him. I am really happy to win again and move up to second in the Tour. I hope, we can have a great final in Morocco together.
