Clarke: Hope to return soon!
Ben Clarke’s star has started to shine in 2015, when he won EFT stages in a row including the Hungarian one. He remembers well, how he won it in Kisoroszi and hopes, he can compete in Hungary again in 2020.
Four years ago you have won the Hungarian Open (now Traditional Footgolf Cup), do you even remember your victory among the lot tournaments you won?
Yes, of course. My first memory of the victory is the final flight and the quality throughout the entire round with Paul Oliver, Nick Iron and David Mancino. I finished the round feeling physically and mentally drained, I could not relax for one moment because the standard was so high.
What has made the tournament special in Hungary?
I think it’s the welcome from the staff of the Hungarian association and the Hungarian players. Everyone makes you feel welcome and are always trying to help. It’s a great tournament and I hope to return again soon.
Do you come this year?
I don’t think I will be there this year as it clashed with an event back home in the UK but it’s definitely an event I would like to return to next season possibly.
What are your expectations for this season?
In my head I have targets for the end of the season but I think it’s more important to just focus on each tournament as it comes. Each tournament offers different challenges and situations, so my focus on each one as it comes but I know it will be another very challenging year ahead.
